Range Donates Funds to Help Heat Pennsylvania Homes
In late 2009, Range donated $100,000 to Dollar Energy Fund to assist families in Washington County, Pa. and surrounding areas who need help paying their utility bills during the cold winter months. The mission of the Dollar Energy Fund is to improve the quality of life for households experiencing hardships by providing utility assistance.
“While Marcellus Shale development is creating thousands of new jobs and helping to keep energy costs low, we recognize many of our neighbors have fallen on tough times in Western Pennsylvania and need help this heating season,” said Range Resources Vice President - Appalachian Shale, Ray Walker. “We hope that our grant helps to inspire others to help those less fortunate during their time of need.”
Dollar Energy fund, Pennsylvania’s largest hardship fund, partners with utility companies across Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio to match all contributions dollar-for-dollar. Last year the organization provided approximately $200,000 to qualifying households in Washington County.
“This year, we are expecting to see a significant increase in the number of households throughout the region needing utility assistance grants. The funds provided by Range will go a long way towards helping these families, many of whom are seeking assistance for the first time,” said Cindy Datig, Dollar Energy Fund’s Chief Executive Officer.
