NEWS RELEASE
RANGE
RESOURCES ADDED TO RUSSELL INDEX LIST
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, JULY 11, 2001…RANGE RESOURCES CORPORATION (NYSE:
RRC) today announced that the company has been added to
the Russell 3000 Index, a ranking of the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks by total
market capitalization.
The Russell 3000 Index, which is reconstituted annually, is divided into
two subsets. The largest 1,000
companies in the ranking comprise the Russell 1000, while the remaining 2,000
companies become the Russell 2000.
Range’s membership in the Russell 2000 was posted July 9 on the Frank
Russell Company’s web site at www.russell.com.
Since membership in the Russell
Index is determined by non-subjective attributes and market capitalization, it
is well-regarded as an unbiased benchmark of market performance. Some of the world’s largest investors,
including the Frank Russell Company, use the listing to help choose
top-performing money managers.
John H. Pinkerton, Range’s
President, said, “Being included in the Russell Index reflects the significant
progress made by the Company over the past year, including an 85% rise in our
stock price. Importantly, inclusion
should increase awareness within the financial community of our rapidly improving
debt ratios and financial flexibility.”
RANGE
RESOURCES CORPORATION is an independent oil and gas company operating in the Permian,
Midcontinent, Gulf Coast and Appalachian regions of the United States.
