The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review featured Range Geologist Michael Jarvis in their latest edition of the Energy Spotlight.

Jarvis was a recent recipient of the Young Alumni Achievement Award by his Alma mater, Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The feature describes Michael’s professional experience in the oil & gas industry since graduating in 2008.

“I was incredibly fortunate to leave school at just the perfect window of time,” he said. “I kind of caught the wave. I came out and the playing field was level. We were all kind of on the same starting line and I got to learn alongside with everybody else.”

The Tribune-Review has also featured Range’s Dennis Degner earlier this year in their Energy Spotlight

Jarvis is one of many young people finding employment in the region thanks to responsible shale gas development by companies like Range Resources.

Range is committed to developing a local workforce and has partnered with numerous public and private efforts to prepare today and tomorrow’s workers for family-sustaining careers in responsible energy development, which is detailed in the Company’s Corporate Responsibility Report. Some of those programs include, but are not limited to the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration’s ShaleNET program, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania, the Challenge Program, the Tri-County Oil and Gas Expo, and many more.

Range also has a “buy local” emphasis to work with employers, businesses and suppliers that are local to the communities and regions where the Company works, which is detailed in Range’s Corporate Responsibility report. For example, the Company makes every attempt to purchase and utilize domestic steel for our operations. Range has a strong and longstanding working relationship with U. S. Steel who provides nearly all of our well casing, which is manufactured here in the United States.

Additional resources can be found at ShaleNet.org an effort from the U.S. Department of Labor, which aims “to build a sustainable workforce development training program with the collaboration and in-kind support of industry, educators, and the public workforce system.”
