Range Resources received high marks in the latest As You Sow report, Disclosing the Facts 2019: Transparency and Risk in Water & Chemicals Management for Hydraulic Fracturing Operations, scoring at the top of the report that ranked companies based on management of water and chemicals in the horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing processes. As you Sow,a nonprofit organization that promotes environmental and social corporate responsibility through shareholder advocacy, ranks oil and gas companies in a series of scorecard reports designed to promote improved disclosure and corporate responsibility.

In the latest report, Range Resources ranked third among the top 30 largest publicly traded oil and gas companies in North America, scoring 20 of a possible 25 points. Range’s high ranking reflects the company’s focus to align its operations with the core values of Performance, Integrity, Innovation, and Transparency, and is the result of continually deploying best management practices. From becoming the first company to voluntarily disclose fluids used in hydraulic fracturing fluids on a per-well basis, to pioneering large-scale water recycling for shale gas development, Range has been a leader in corporate sustainability and responsibly developing energy while being good stewards for shareholders, the environment and the nearby communities.

According to the report, Disclosing the Facts 2019 ranks companies on disclosures of key elements of their water management processes, seeking not only quantitative information about the impacts of company operations on water but also qualitative information about corporate policies and practices. Sound corporate management of water and chemicals requires thorough, systematic planning — from site development through production and wastewater disposal, advanced equipment design, and practices that efficiently use water and minimize impacts on the surrounding environment and local communities.
